Get NDIS Gardening Services With Warrior Home Management

NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is an Australian government program that pays for gardening and yard maintenance services for people with permanent disabilities who cannot do it themselves.

It covers basic tasks like lawn mowing, weeding, pruning, and path clearing.

  • Lawn mowing
  • Weeding
  • Pruning
  • Path and driveway clearing

Please note: Landscaping and purely decorative work are not covered under NDIS funding.

The gardening cost is funded because an overgrown or unsafe yard can create serious safety hazards for disabled people, like blocked wheelchair paths or tripping risks.

To get it funded, the person must prove they cannot do it due to their disability, have no family member available to help, and must have it listed in their NDIS plan.

Who Qualifies for NDIS Garden Maintenance Funding?

To have garden maintenance funded through your NDIS plan, you must meet all three of the following conditions:

  • You cannot perform garden tasks yourself due to your disability
  • No family member is available to assist you with these tasks
  • Garden maintenance is listed as a support in your approved NDIS plan

How to Apply for NDIS Support

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

You must be under 65 years old, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your daily life.

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

Collect proof of identity, proof of residency, and medical reports or letters from your doctor or specialist confirming your disability and how it impacts you.

Step 3: Submit an Access Request

Call NDIS on 1800 800 110 or visit ndis.gov.au and fill out the Access Request Form. You can also visit your nearest NDIS office in person.

Step 4: Wait for the Decision

NDIS will review your application and contact you within 21 days to let you know if you are eligible. They may ask for additional medical evidence during this time.

Step 5: Attend a Planning Meeting

Once approved, an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) will contact you to arrange a planning meeting. In this meeting you discuss your goals, daily challenges, and what support you need.

Step 6: Get Your NDIS Plan

After the meeting, NDIS creates a funded plan for you that lists all the supports and services you are approved for, along with the budget allocated for each.

Step 7: Choose Your Providers

You select registered NDIS providers who will deliver the services listed in your plan, such as garden maintenance, personal care, or therapy.

Step 8: Start Using Your Supports

Your providers begin delivering services and the NDIS pays them directly from your plan budget.

Step 9: Review Your Plan

Your plan is usually reviewed every 12 months to make sure it still meets your needs. You can request an early review if your situation changes.

What a Person Needs to Know Before Using NDIS Services

Understand Your Plan

Read your NDIS plan carefully and know exactly what supports are funded, how much budget you have for each category, and what you are and are not allowed to spend it on.

Know Your Plan Management Type

Your plan will be managed in one of three ways. NDIS managed means NDIS pays providers directly. Plan managed means a plan manager handles your funds and pays providers on your behalf. Self managed means you control the money and pay providers yourself.

Only Use Funds for Approved Supports

You can only spend your NDIS budget on supports that are listed in your plan and are considered reasonable and necessary. Spending on unapproved items can result in losing your funding.

Choose the Right Provider

If your plan is NDIS managed, you must use registered NDIS providers. If you are plan managed or self managed, you have more flexibility and can use unregistered providers as well.

Keep Records and Receipts

Always keep invoices, receipts, and records of every service you use. NDIS can audit your spending at any time and you must be able to show that funds were used correctly.

Know Your Rights

You have the right to choose your own providers, change providers if you are unhappy, and raise complaints through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Plan Reviews

Your plan is reviewed every 12 months. If your needs change before that, you can request an early review. Always prepare for reviews by documenting how your current supports are working for you.

Ask for Help If Needed

You can get free help from a Local Area Coordinator or a Support Coordinator who can explain your plan and help you connect with the right providers.
